Bio/Teaching Philosophy

I am from the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas, I also lived in Lubbock Texas, where I gained my first experience in building web pages as a Texas Tech undergraduate student and workstudy.  I was given the chance to build the first websites for several departments on campus at Texas Tech, some of those pages were for the Office of New Student Relations, the Office of International Affairs, and The Range and Wild Life Management Department.

I moved on to work as a Webmaster for a an advertising agency with a Webdesign start-up division called Designet Solutions which is know long defunct. Then the web bubble exploded and many companies lost clients and folded. I moved on and worked in the IT field but always with a concentration in web and networking technologies, eventually me and my wife moved to San Antonio where I had a brief stint as a military contractor at the Department of Financing and Accounting Services. Looking for something a little more stable eventually led me to Northwest Vista College where I have worked since 2002 to the present.

I strive to bring my knowledge and years of experience to the classroom in fun and informal fashion, collaboration is part of the real world and I nourish and encourage group work and service learning in my classes. There is not better way to learn than hands on approaches and my technique brings that to the courses I teach, along with my commitment to help every student by being flexible and agile to meet the needs each individual may have.
